The new school year has begun here at the Christian Union Bible College. After the quietness of the break, it is good to have the students and their families back.
Many of you read my posts last year about Richard's daughter Caroline. If you didn't, you'll want to look back and read them. Because of what happened to her, many parents from our area have been afraid to send their young kids back to that school. Unfortunately, that is the closest school and only option for the people where we are. After thinking about this and praying what we should do for our student's and staff's kids, we decided to start a small school for kindergarten and 1st grade for our campus kids. The kids who are older then those grades are able to walk to and from the other school easier.
In opening this school, we had to hire one more teacher and move a current teacher into the 1st grade class. So this has created additional expenses for the college. However, as the community heard about our school, they began to come and beg us to let their kids come as well. So we decided to let a limited number of outside students come enroll and pay tuition. This tuition will help to cover some of the additional costs that we have now.
Please pray with us about this new ministry. It has added some additional work and stress to my job, but we are excited to be able to make an impact on these kids from our community, and to make sure that they are safe and protected from the kinds of things that happened to Caroline last year. Along with the other 35 kids, Caroline is here everyday with a smile on her face as she plays and learns with the other kids.
